Visitors to Lansdowne Place will notice something impossible to miss the moment they walk in — a massive new landmark celebrating Lakers pride and local partnership.
The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers have unveiled a giant Kawartha chair at the mall, a locally made feature built by Taylor’s Plastics, just steps from Lansdowne Place and not far from the Memorial Centre. The display is part art piece, part photo opportunity, and part community connection.
Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships for the Lakers, Pete Dalliday, says the idea was to bring something fun, interactive, and distinctly local to fans.
But the launch wasn’t just about the chair. It also tied into a celebration of Lakers history.
The night will feature a full 1980s-inspired atmosphere at the Memorial Centre, as well as some 80’s themed merchandise available in the store
From a giant Kawartha chair to a celebration of championship history, the Lakers are blending past and present in a way designed to bring fans closer to the team and its community roots.
The Lakers will kick off their season with their home opener on May 21st against the Six Nations Chiefs.
