The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is launching a Spring Appeal to raise funds for new ultrasound technology.
The Foundation says the hospital needs to update and expand its current fleet of ultrasound machines to support patient care.
Ultrasound technology is used across multiple departments and is relied on for diagnosing and monitoring a range of conditions. Dr. Michel Boivin, Chief of Medical Staff, says it is used daily in both diagnostic imaging and bedside care.
Foundation officials say the hospital does not receive government funding to replace medical equipment, meaning donor support is needed for upgrades.
According to the Foundation, ultrasound machines are used approximately 40 to 50 times per day and are in need of replacement due to age and heavy use.
Letters about the campaign will be delivered to residents throughout Kawartha Lakes in the coming weeks, encouraging donations.
Donations can be made by mail, by phone at 705-328-6146, online at foundation.rmh.org, or in person at the Foundation office at Ross Memorial Hospital.
