Police say both vehicles involved in a fatal hit-and-run earlier this week have now been identified, as the investigation continues in Peterborough.
The Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit says the development comes following public assistance, thanking residents for tips and information provided.
Officers were called to Monaghan Road just north of Albert Street at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Thursday. Investigators say a driver had stopped after noticing something on the roadway and began calling 9-1-1 to report a person had been struck.
While that call was being made, a second vehicle hit the man. Police say that vehicle stopped briefly before leaving the scene prior to officers arriving.
The 42-year-old victim was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
Police had previously described the second vehicle as a lifted pickup truck with blue underglow lighting.
Officers continue to canvass the area for video and are still asking anyone with information to contact the Traffic Unit or Crime Stoppers.
