Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a pedestrian was struck in Peterborough.
The Peterborough Police Service says officers were called to Monaghan Road just north of Albert Street at about 1:15 a.m. on Thursday.
Investigators say a driver initially stopped after noticing something on the roadway and began calling 911 to report a possible collision. While that call was being made, a second vehicle struck the pedestrian. That vehicle briefly stopped before leaving the scene.
The 42-year-old victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say they are canvassing the area for video and are asking for help identifying both drivers involved.
The second vehicle is described as a lifted pickup truck with blue underglow LED lighting.
The traffic unit is asking anyone with information to contact the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit or Crime Stoppers.
