Lacrosse fans in Peterborough won’t have to wait much longer for the return of the Lakers, with the team now just over a month away from opening night at the Memorial Centre.
The Lakers will host the defending three-time Mann Cup champion Six Nations Chiefs at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on May 21. The team says this year’s opener will carry the theme “The Battle Begins,” setting the tone for the season right from the first faceoff.
Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships Pete Dalliday says the matchup and atmosphere are designed to kick things off in a big way.
As excitement builds around the upcoming season, the Lakers are also planning to bring more than just high-level lacrosse to the PMC. Dalliday says fans can expect a number of themed nights and in-game experiences throughout the summer.
Looking beyond opening night, the organization says there are several dates fans will want to keep in mind as the season unfolds. Dalliday adds there are special plans in place aimed at making the summer memorable for supporters.
Season ticket holders have until May 6 to renew their seats, while single-game tickets for the 2026 season go on sale May 11.
It was also announced this week that the Lakers partnership with Cogeco has been renewed and all games will once again be broadcasted live on YourTV.
