A Trent Lakes resident is facing multiple charges after OPP seized 53 firearms and a quantity of cocaine during a warrant execution.
Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit officers launched an investigation this month into an individual believed to be prohibited from possessing firearms. On Wednesday, officers attended a Bessie Avenue address, arrested the accused, and located cocaine during a search.
Police say a subsequent search of the property uncovered one improperly stored firearm, along with 52 additional long rifles, ammunition, and more cocaine.
Officers seized:
- 53 long rifles
- Ammunition and reloading devices
- 278 grams of cocaine
- Digital scales
- Cell phones
- More than $5,000 in cash
A 39-year-old Trent Lakes man is charged with:
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order (three counts)
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
The accused was held for a bail hearing in Peterborough.
