City of Kawartha Lakes OPP are investigating an impaired driving incident after an ATV collision on Mount Horeb Road in Manvers Township.
Just before 5 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a single-vehicle ATV crash near Mount Horeb Road and Old Mill Road. A 33-year-old male passenger from Emily Township was transported to a Toronto-area trauma center with life-altering injuries, while the ATV driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
A 37-year-old man from Peterborough was charged with:
- Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while Impaired – Alcohol or Drug
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the ATV was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.
