Ashburnham Memorial Park atop Armour Hill will be the site of an ambitious community clean up initiative on April 11th co-organized by the Ashburnham Memorial Stewardship Group.
In partnership with Clean Up Peterborough, organizers ask people to show up at 10 a.m. at the Heritage Pavilion behind the Peterborough Museum and Archives where garbage bags and pickers will be distributed. Participants are encouraged to wear gloves.
Stewardship group member Jenn McCallum says while Armour Hill is Ashburnham Memorial Park is a war memorial and, as such, it deserves litter-free respect. She adds the clean-up will extend to other nearby areas.
McCallum says it’s disheartening that some people still see fit to litter in this enlightened age.
McCallum says the clean-up event also provides an opportunity to view a huge variety of birds in their natural environment.
