The Peterborough Regional Science Fair is returning to Trent University – one of more than a hundred science fairs being held across Canada.
On April 8th from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., the public is invited to view the projects and experiments put forth by local elementary and secondary school students. The awards ceremony will follow at 3 p.m.
This is the 56th year for the local science fair, with more than $15,000 in cash prizes, university scholarships and draw prizes up for grabs.
Science fair committee chair Sumiko Polacco says organizing the annual event is a huge undertaking.
Fair fundraising and outreach coordinator Jessica Livingtsone participated in the 2021 science fair, winning first in her division and third overall.
Polacco notes exhibiting at the science fair also reinforces the importance of a key life skill for participants.
The fair’s grand prize is an all-expenses paid trip to the Canada Wide Science Fair in Edmonton from May 23 to 30.
