The Port Hope Police Service Board has extended the contract of Chief Tim Farquharson, keeping him in the role through March 2030.
The board says the decision reflects Farquharson’s leadership and his impact on community-focused policing in the municipality.
Board chair George Kallonakis said Farquharson has strengthened relationships with community partners and helped build trust across the region.
“His strong relationships… have helped foster trust, collaboration, and shared success,” Kallonakis said.
Farquharson, who spent more than 30 years in Peterborough, said he is honoured by the extension and remains committed to serving the community.
“I am genuinely excited for the opportunity to continue serving this remarkable community,” he said, adding that public safety and well-being will remain a priority.
He also pointed to ongoing collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police and Cobourg Police Service as key to strengthening regional policing efforts.
The board says it looks forward to continuing its work with Farquharson to support safety and well-being in Port Hope.
