Spring has arrived, and with it a chance to win big while helping local animals. The Lakefield Animal Welfare Society’s Love in Bloom 50/50 Raffle is running now, with tickets available online until April 30 and the draw happening that day at 2 p.m. Half the jackpot goes to the winner, while the other half supports life-saving care for pets in the community.
Operations director Lyndsay Lisson-De Ell says the timing of the fundraiser is critical, especially as kitten season approaches.
The funds raised through the raffle help provide emergency veterinary care, grow the Foster Home Program, and support local residents helping animals in crisis.
Since LAWS receives no government funding, the shelter relies entirely on the generosity of the community. Lisson-De Ell says the care and compassion from residents is something the shelter never takes for granted, adding that the support is always there when they need it most.
Every ticket purchased not only enters participants to win but also directly contributes to giving vulnerable animals a second chance. Since 1993, LAWS has operated as a no-kill shelter, rescuing abandoned, homeless, and injured animals and placing them in loving homes.
Looking ahead, Lisson-De Ell says the shelter is always exploring new ways to care for animals and strengthen their programs, adding that having an amazing team in place helps immensely.
