Ontario Provincial Police have recovered a stolen vehicle and laid charges following a traffic stop on Highway 401.
On March 12, just before 11:00 a.m., officers patrolling eastbound in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand were alerted by their in‑cruiser Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system to a vehicle reported stolen one week earlier from Quebec. Officers stopped the car and took a 35-year-old Quebec man into custody.
The OPP says ALPR technology is now installed in patrol vehicles across the province, allowing officers to quickly identify stolen vehicles, suspended drivers, missing persons, and other safety concerns in real time, supporting swift enforcement on Ontario’s roads.
