A 42-year-old man already under court orders restricting where he can go is facing new charges after an alleged incident in a public area in Peterborough.
According to Peterborough Police Service, officers were called around 5 p.m. on Monday, after a concerned resident reported seeing a man masturbating in a public area near Bethune Street and Murray Street. The caller told police a child was outside in the area at the time.
Officers searched the neighbourhood but were initially unable to locate the suspect.
Police say they received a second call a short time later reporting the man had returned to the area. Officers responded and located a man matching the description provided, taking him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, Steven Watson, was arrested and charged with indecent act in a public place, failing to comply with a probation order, and failing to comply with a prohibition order regarding children.
Police say Watson is currently bound by a probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
He is also subject to a prohibition order that bars him from attending public parks, public swimming areas where people under 16 may be present, daycare centres, school grounds, playgrounds, or community centres.
