Residents will have a chance to weigh in on a proposed new planning framework for the city later this month.
The City of Peterborough will hold a public meeting on the draft Community Planning Permit by-law on Monday, March 23 at 6 pm in council chambers at Peterborough City Hall. The meeting will also be streamed online through the city’s council broadcast page.
City officials say the meeting will include a presentation outlining background information on the draft by-law, feedback gathered through public engagement so far, and next steps in the process. No decision will be made at the meeting.
The proposed Community Planning Permit by-law would replace the city’s current zoning by-law and establish a new framework for how land is used and developed across Peterborough. Officials say the approach is intended to support future growth, encourage affordable housing, and combine several planning approvals — including rezoning, minor variances, and site plan applications — into a single process.
Public feedback collected during the meeting will be reviewed by council’s general committee. A revised version of the draft by-law is expected to be released by late May, followed by additional public review before council considers a final version later in June.
Residents can also complete an online survey on the proposal until March 20.
