It was quite a week for Peterborough-based artist Lynda Todd.
Not only did an exhibit of her work, titled Echoes of the Senses, open at the ECCO Art Gallery in Lakefield for a month-long run, but she was also featured in the March edition of Costco Connection, a monthly magazine mailed to three million Canadian households.
Published under the title Art For All, the article speaks to Todd’s work which, via layered textures and sculptural surfaces, wholly encourages us to not only view her work but also touch it. Visually impaired and colour blind, Todd believes accessibility strengthens art.
Todd outlines one way her work is made more accessible for gallery visitors.
Todd says increased accessibility not only says welcome to gallery visitors but also speaks to the wider issue of increased accessibility in all areas of society.
Todd was named the Electric City Culture Council’s Outstanding Emerging Artist in 2025 and one of her pieces on display this year at Queen’s Park. Echoes of the Senses continues until April 5th.
