A first-year Fleming College basketball player is being recognized for his standout rookie season.
Nathan Walters-Sundararajah of the Fleming Phoenix varsity men’s basketball team has been named to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men’s Basketball East Division All-Rookie team.
Walters-Sundararajah, 19, joined the Phoenix this season from Toronto and has made an immediate impact on the court. Competing in 16 games, he logged 245 minutes of play, started six games, and scored 128 points over the season.
Coaches praise Walters-Sundararajah for his speed, skill, and basketball IQ. He quickly moves the ball up the court, drawing defensive attention and creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. “Nathan is the type of player who can change the dynamic of a game in an instant,” one coach said.
Balancing academics and athletics, Walters-Sundararajah is enrolled in Fleming’s Carpentry and Renovation Technician program.
