Peterborough County OPP officers arrested an individual following a violent incident at a residence on County Road 49 on Saturday.
Shortly before 9:30am, police received a call from someone who had just been assaulted. The caller reported that an axe had been thrown through their door and that the individual had entered the home with a firearm, acting in a threatening manner. The caller safely left and contacted the OPP.
Officers secured the area, bringing in additional resources due to concerns over the firearm. Around 11:30am, the individual exited the residence and surrendered to police.
Charges include assault, mischief, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Eight firearms, other weapons, and various ammunition were seized.
