Residents thinking about running in the 2026 municipal election — or simply wanting to learn more about local government — are invited to attend an upcoming candidate information session.
“So, You Want to Run for Council – Candidate 101” will take place Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. at the Market Hall Performing Arts Centre, 140 Charlotte St.
The session will outline the roles and responsibilities of municipal council members and provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions and connect with others interested in public office.
The event will be led by Nigel Bellchamber, a municipal governance trainer who has worked with elected officials and senior staff across Ontario since 2002.
The 2026 municipal election is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026.
The nomination period for candidates runs from May 1, 2026, to August 21, 2026, at 2 p.m., in accordance with provincial legislation.
Residents can reserve a spot for the information session and find additional election details, including eligibility requirements and nomination forms, at peterboroughvotes.ca.
