Tenders for the design and building of a new Peterborough sports, entertainment and convention centre closed Tuesday (January 27th), with Mayor Jeff Leal noting that “a number of significant players” have submitted bids.
The tender submission deadline was originally scheduled to close on January 15th but, based on the level of interest shown in mid-December, that deadline was extended. According to Mayor Leal, each submission will now be reviewed by city staff.
Mayor Leal has no made no secret of his desire to the see the project initiated during his term in office, but adds it’s a project “that stands on the shoulders of others.”
Mayor Leal says the tender review process will focus on the vision each submission expresses.
