The Warden of Peterborough County has been acclaimed as Chair of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus.
The caucus, which represents 103 municipalities, acclaimed Bonnie Clark as chair for 2026 at its recent meeting, with Lennox and Addington County Warden Nathan Townend named vice-chair.
Clark said she is honoured to continue in the role and looks forward to building on momentum gained over the past year, particularly in advocating for rural and small-urban communities.
The meeting itself highlighted shared priorities including economic resilience, municipal infrastructure, housing and rural health care. As part of that work, the EOWC is submitting recommendations to the Ontario government as part of its 2026 budget consultations.
The AGM also featured remarks from several provincial ministers and senior officials, along with representatives from municipal organizations and economic development groups, underscoring the importance of collaboration across all levels of government.
The EOWC says it remains committed to working with its partners in 2026 to strengthen the region’s economy, infrastructure and quality of life.
