A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing a theft charge following a shoplifting call in the city’s downtown on Thursday afternoon.
Police were called to a business in the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street area around 3:15 pm on Jan. 8. Officers learned the suspect had run from the store and headed north.
He was located a short time later in the Reid and Simcoe Street area and taken into custody. Police also discovered the man was wanted on outstanding warrants for theft under $5,000, assault, and mischief under $5,000 in connection with a Jan. 2 incident.
He was arrested on the warrants and charged with theft under $5,000. The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 10.
