The United Way campaign saw major traction over the holiday break, now sitting just under 90 percent of its $1.6 million goal.
As of January 9th, close to $1.45 million had been received or pledged. Back in mid-December, that figure stood at just more than $1 million.
United Way CEO Jim Russell stops short of terming that uptick a Christmas miracle, but notes it is indicative of the ebbs and flows of a typical campaign.
Russell says the community’s continued strong support of the campaign is related to the value proposition of the United Way’s funding model.
Russell adds to hit goal, every contribution, no matter the amount, is huge, but says there are always surprises that catch him off guard.
