Organizers are inviting community groups, businesses and families to take part as plans ramp up for this year’s Peterborough St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The annual event has grown steadily over more than two decades, with organizers saying participation now includes more than 20 Irish families and close to 80 parade entries. The focus this year is on welcoming even more groups to join the lineup and help showcase the region’s Irish roots.
The parade is set to begin at 2 pm on March 15, with a flag raising planned earlier in the week at City Hall at 11 am on March 9.
The volunteer committee says work is already underway with major sponsors to make sure this year’s celebration continues the parade’s tradition of getting bigger and better, while keeping its community feel at the forefront.
Organizers are encouraging anyone interested in marching, driving a vehicle or entering a float to sign up and be part of the celebration of Peterborough’s deep Irish heritage.
