Peterborough outdoor retailer Wild Rock raised more than $36,000 for local community support through its ComPassion Project during the month of November.
The fundraising initiative asked customers to put giving first at the start of the winter season. Donations made throughout the month were matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000, with more than 70 individual donors contributing to the total.
Additional funds were raised through in-store and community events. During the Black Friday weekend, Wild Rock donated $5 from every purchase, adding $2,010. A sold-out YETI Community Film Night held in mid-November raised another $1,600 through ticket sales and gear donations.
Wild Rock says the ComPassion Project reflects the company’s commitment to supporting people and organizations working to improve quality of life in Peterborough, including those facing barriers to stability and those connected to local outdoor spaces.
