The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) has unveiled a new mural at its George Street office in Peterborough to create a more welcoming space for those seeking mental health support.
Local artist Mickaela Baker was commissioned to paint the mural on the entrance door at 466 George Street North. CMHA HKPR says the project aims to reduce anxiety, foster a sense of safety, and signal that everyone accessing services is respected and valued.
Ellen Watkins, CEO of CMHA HKPR, said the mural represents more than art, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. The mural also symbolizes knowledge, hope, and belonging, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to listening to and supporting the community.
The project is part of CMHA HKPR’s broader efforts to strengthen connections with the community and make mental health services accessible and welcoming. More information about the organization and its programs is available at cmhahkpr.ca.
