Snow expected this morning is prompting travel warnings and the cancellation of school transportation across the region.
A special weather statement has been issued for the Peterborough area, calling for 5 to 10 centimetres of snow before tapering off this afternoon.
While snowfall amounts are expected to be modest, officials say the timing could cause problems for the morning commute, with reduced visibility at times and accumulating snow making roads and walkways more difficult to navigate.
Because of the forecasted inclement weather and expected poor driving conditions, all school transportation has been cancelled for the day within the STSCO jurisdiction.
This includes all KPR, PVNC and MonAvenir schools in Peterborough City and County, Northumberland County and Clarington. Schools will remain open for those who can get there safely.
