A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges following a break and enter and assault Tuesday night.
Police were called around 7:15 pm on December 30 to the area of Rubidge Street and Townsend Street for a reported break and enter in progress. Officers say a door to a home had been damaged, the residence was entered, and a victim was assaulted with a 4×4 piece of wood.
The victim sustained injuries and was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for assessment.
Officers located a man matching the suspect description nearby and took him into custody. Police say the accused and the victim are known to each other.
The man has been charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with probation. Police also determined he was wanted on two outstanding warrants for mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation.
The accused was also taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for assessment of injuries sustained during the altercation.
