A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges after police say he possessed firearm ammunition in violation of prohibition orders.
Peterborough police were called around 10:30 a.m. on December 27th to the area of Maude Street and Lansdowne Street following a report of a theft from a vehicle. Officers say a magazine with rounds of ammunition and loose ammunition were taken, though the rifle associated with the items was not in the vehicle.
Video footage led officers to identify and locate the suspect a short distance away. He was arrested and charged with four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and theft under $5,000.
The accused is bound by four prohibition orders, barring him from possessing any firearm, crossbow, restricted weapon, ammunition or explosives for life. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in February 2026.
