Not unlike regions across central and eastern Ontario, Peterborough County was hit hard by the late March ice storm.
While recovery from the storm was a challenge, both logistically and financially, the county saw positive developments in terms of economic development and a budget for 2026 which came with a relatively low tax increase for ratepayers.
Warden Bonnie Clark, who also sits as chair of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus, says strides taken in terms of economic development were substantial over the past year, positioning the county well for the year ahead. She’s particularly proud of the engage.ptbocounty.ca website, which was launched in August.
Warden Clark adds the long-anticipated refurbishment of the James A. Gifford Causeway across Chemong Lake was a welcome development.
Looking ahead to 2006, Warden Clark notes a few things she’d like to see move forward.
