A 44-year-old Peterborough man wanted in connection with a homicide earlier this month has been located and taken into custody, police say.
Peterborough police say officers with the Investigative Services Unit learned at about 3 p.m. on Friday that the suspect was in the city. The Emergency Response Team was deployed to a residence in the area of Dalhousie and Aylmer streets.
Police say the suspect surrendered without incident after officers called out to him and exited the residence.
As a result, Michael Waterman was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with a homicide that occurred in the city on December 6th.
Waterman is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court on Saturday, December 27th.
Police say Waterman was also wanted in connection with a separate homicide in Durham Region on December 23rd.
In a statement, the Peterborough Police Service thanked members of the public for their vigilance over the past several weeks, as well as officers from the Belleville Police Service and Durham Regional Police Service for their assistance.
Police say the search is now over for suspects connected to the December 6th homicide, and all individuals believed to be involved will now be before the courts.
