What was initially a frustrating year on the local real estate landscape saw some stabilization over the last few months, with one longtime realtor saying early 2026 should bring a good market entry point for buyers.
Roger Currier, broker of record with MinCom Kawartha Lakes Realty, says lofty home prices seen during the COVID pandemic years “just aren’t there anymore. He adds late 2025 saw “a big uptick” of 30 percent in housing inventory from the same time in 2024. Add in lower interest rates, and that has Currier predicting more buyers “jumping into the market really soon.”
On the bright side, Currier says Peterborough remains an attractive option for those looking to move further east of the GTA.
Currier is optimistic the local real estate market will see a strong 2026, particularly early in the year.
A realtor since 1996, Currier opened his Mincom franchise almost 20 years ago. He says it remains “a hands on, personal, doors open 24-7” office which offers specialized service for all different types of real estate transactions.
