The local health unit is reporting three drug-related deaths in November – the same number of deaths attributed to poisoned drug use in October.
To the end of November, 41 people have died this year died from using poisoned drugs. That’s well down from the 60 deaths recorded in all of 2024 and close to half of the 78 deaths recorded in 2023.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded to 12 poisoning-related 9-1-1 calls in November – well down from 22 in October – while 36 hospital emergency room visits related to a suspected drug poisoning were made in November, up from the 32 drug-related hospital visits reported in October.
