Two people are facing drug-related charges after police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver.
Police were called around 6:45 a.m. Monday, to an underground parking lot in the Sheridan and Hunter Street area. Officers found a man and woman inside a vehicle. While the driver showed no signs of impairment, police say drug paraphernalia was visible.
The man was arrested, and a search turned up 13.7 grams of fentanyl, three fentanyl tablets, a cellphone, Canadian currency and a scale.
A 56-year-old Peterborough man is charged with possession of an opioid for the purpose of trafficking, possession of an opioid and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000. He was held for a court appearance the same day.
A 24-year-old Peterborough woman is charged with possession of an opioid and was released on an appearance notice. She is scheduled to appear in court on January 20, 2026.
Police continue to investigate.
