Residents across Peterborough County are being invited to provide input on the future of local emergency preparedness through a short online survey. The survey is open to everyone living in the county’s eight townships — Asphodel-Norwood, Cavan Monaghan, Douro-Dummer, Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, North Kawartha, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Selwyn, and Trent Lakes — as well as members of the Curve Lake and Hiawatha First Nation communities.
The 2025 ice storm highlighted how quickly emergencies can affect the region, prompting the county to focus on building stronger preparedness programs. Feedback from the survey will help shape new tools, resources, and public education campaigns, including enhancements to the Emergency Preparedness Hub on the county’s ENGAGE platform, which provides information and resources for residents.
“The ice storm earlier this year was a powerful reminder of how quickly an emergency can impact our communities,” said Bonnie Clark, Warden of Peterborough County. “Emergency preparedness starts with awareness and community connection. By sharing their thoughts through this survey, residents can help shape meaningful programs that strengthen our collective resilience.”
Residents who complete the survey by December 1, 2025, will be entered into a draw to win one of five Winter Car Emergency Kits. The survey is available on the county’s ENGAGE Peterborough County platform.
