The Peterborough Police Service is asking the public for assistance after an urn and a photo were turned in to them.
On October 7, the items were brought to the police station after being found in a dumpster, though the exact location of the dumpster is unknown.
The Forensic Identification Unit has conducted multiple searches to try to locate and return the urn to the family.
The urn is gold-coloured with an engraved pattern around the lid, middle, and base, stands about 15 centimetres tall, and was found inside a burgundy velvet bag along with the photo. The photo, also in a black velvet bag, shows a white female of medium build wearing a grey sweater, displayed in a gold frame.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Peterborough Police at 705-876-1122 x555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at stopcrimehere.ca
