The latest numbers from Statistics Canada show Peterborough’s unemployment rate crept up in October.
According to the data, Peterborough’s figure is now 5.7 per cent, up from 5.4 in October.
Nationally, Canada’s labour market continued to defy expectations in October, adding 67,000 jobs and pushing the unemployment rate down to 6.9 per cent.
October’s momentum was driven largely by part-time positions, which rose by 85,000, while the private sector added 73,000 jobs — its first increase since June.
