A sunrise Remembrance Day service will returns to the war memorial in the veterans’ section of Little Lake Cemetery off Haggart Street.
Set to begin at 7:30 a.m. on November 11th, it will again be officiated by Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment chaplain Nancy Wilson, with the playing of The Last Post followed by two minutes of silence.
Opus Tribute CEO James Belk, who oversees both Little Lake and Highland cemeteries, notes the first local sunrise ceremony was held in 2022 as an alternative for those who can’t attend the traditional 11 a.m. service at the Peterborough War Memorial.
The Little Lake setting, says Belk, adds to the poignancy of the service.
Belk notes each marker in the veterans’ section will again receive caring attention from local school kids.
