The Peterborough Petes are back on the ice tomorrow for the start of the Ontario Hockey League season, hosting the Brampton Steelheads in their home opener.
After finishing at the bottom of the standings last year, the team is eager to hit the reset button.
With anticipation building over the past several weeks and players eager to get the season going, head coach Rob Wilson says tomorrow’s game is about setting the tone and sending a message to the rest of the league.
With several new faces joining a strong core of returning players, the Petes are hoping to start the season off with a bang. Last season, the team had the lowest goal total in the league, but Wilson is confident the offense will be more productive this year.
Discipline is another area Wilson wants to address. The Petes were the fourth most penalized team in the league last season, and while he wants them to maintain a physical style of play, he says avoiding unnecessary penalties will be key.
