A downward trend in local deaths attributed to poisoned drugs continued in June.
According to Peterborough Public Health, June saw one death result from tainted drug use. That comes on the heels of May’s reporting of no drug-related deaths during that month.
To the end of June, 18 people have died this year died from poisoned drugs.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded to 12 drug poisoning-related 9-1-1 calls in June – up from nine in May – while 37 hospital emergency room visits related to a suspected drug poisoning were made in June, down from 38 drug-related hospital visits in May.
