A 44-year-old man from Markham faces assault charges following an incident at Beavermead Park Sunday evening.
Around 9:15 pm, police responded to a disturbance at the park. Officers found that a couple in their 20s had been sitting in the lifeguard tower when some children asked them to get down. This led to a verbal confrontation involving two adults with the children. As the couple left, a man reportedly chased and tackled them.
The victims declined medical attention.
Following the investigation, the man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. He was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court on August 19.
