Growing Up on the Farm, a look into local agriculture, presented by Peterborough County Federation of Agriculture, also fueled by KUBOTA. Today we are profiling Leahy’s Farm and Market.
When the conversation centres on local family farm operations, the name Leahy comes to mind almost immediately…and for good reason.
Started by Frank and Julie Leahy in 1974 as a simple roadside corn stand, Leahy’s Farm and Market in Douro-Dummer has been worked over five decades since by the couple’s children and many grandchildren.
The market – a very popular Highway 28 stop for area residents and visitors to the region – offers fresh produce, farm-raised beef, chicken and eggs, baked goods, and local specialties in the form of jams, honey and maple-based products.
Farm life has been, and remains, at the centre of Doug Leahy’s world, as he still puts to use the skills and lessons learned over a lifetime.
