Peterborough native Porter Martone is headed to Philadelphia after being selected sixth overall by the Flyers in the NHL Entry Draft, held in Los Angeles over the weekend. Martone now shares the honour of being the second-highest drafted Peterborough-born player in NHL history, alongside Cory Stillman, who was picked sixth by the Calgary Flames back in 1992.
The Jr A Lakers are looking for their third straight win tonight when they host the Mimico Mountaineers at 8pm from the PMC. A win would mark their longest streak of the season.
After dominating the opening game of their playoff series with a 17-2 win on Saturday, the Jr C Lakers are in Huntsville tonight for game two of their best-of-five. Game three shifts back to Peterborough on Friday night.
And it was a big weekend for the U12 AAA Tigers, who rallied for a 7-6 comeback win over Clarington in the final to capture the Pink in the Park tournament at Bowers Park. It was the team’s 15th straight win.
