Here is your local sports report for Thursday, June 26.
The Peterborough Jr A Lakers are back in the win column after a solid 13-7 road victory over the Oakville Buzz last night. Captain Nick Roode powered the offence with five goals and two assists, while DJ Clark added two goals and five helpers. Waukiigan Shognosh was sharp in net, making 41 saves in the win. They’re back on home floor tomorrow night when they host the St. Catharines Athletics at 8pm at the Memorial Centre.
The Senior Lakers are looking to snap a two-game losing skid when they welcome the Cobourg Kodiaks tonight. Peterborough won the last meeting between the teams 13-6 back on June 1st. The team will wear special Canada Day-themed jerseys tonight, which will be auctioned off post-game in support of the PRHC Foundation’s $60 million campaign. Fans are encouraged to wear red and white to match the team. Game time is 8pm at the PMC.
And Kawartha Tri-Sport is looking for volunteers to help with scorekeeping and cleanup at its 10th annual tournament. This year’s event will be held September 13th at the Ennismore Arena, featuring both hockey and baseball. Last year’s tournament raised $72,000 for local charities.
