The Peterborough Petes have added experience to their blue line, acquiring overage defenceman James Petrovski from the Owen Sound Attack. In return, the Petes are sending Owen Sound a 2026 third-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick, a 2028 fifth-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick.
Petrovski, a Mississauga native, was originally selected 33rd overall by the Flint Firebirds in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. He’s coming off his best offensive season to date, recording 41 points on four goals and 37 assists.
On the lacrosse floor, the Peterborough Lakers fell 9-6 to the first-place Six Nations Chiefs last night. The loss leaves the Lakers in third place in the MSL standings. They’ll return to home floor Thursday night at the Memorial Centre, when they host the Cobourg Kodiaks. The team will wear special Canada-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game in support of the PRHC Foundation’s $60 million fundraising campaign.
The Jr A Lakers are also in action tonight as they visit the Oakville Buzz. Peterborough took the last meeting between the two teams 9-5, in the Lakers home opener, back on May 26. Currently sitting in sixth place with a 6-7 record, a win tonight would pull the Lakers back to .500 on the season.
