After more than three decades, police have charged a suspect in the 1991 Apsley murder of Angelien Josephine Quesnelle.
Quesnelle, then 40, was last seen around noon on October 7, 1991, in Peterborough. When she didn’t return, the Belleville OPP launched a search. On November 10, her car was found abandoned in a quarry near Ridge Road and Highway 620, east of Coe Hill. Five days later, a hunter discovered her body on McCoy Bay Road. A postmortem in Toronto confirmed she was a homicide victim.
The case remained open and under investigation for years. On June 19, OPP officers arrested 70-year-old David Alexander Snow from Bath, Ontario. He faces first-degree murder charges under the Criminal Code.
Snow is currently held in custody and scheduled to appear in Peterborough court on August 12. The investigation was led by the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit with support from the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford said, “OPP investigators have never stopped investigating this murder. This arrest represents an important step toward providing Angelien’s family and the community of Apsley with the long-awaited answers they deserve”.
