Here is your local sports report for Thursday, June 19.
As the unofficial lacrosse capital of the world, it’s only fitting that today’s report is all about lacrosse.
Starting with last night’s action, DJ Clark led the way with an eight-point performance as the Jr A Lakers knocked off Burlington 12–8. Nick Roode, Curtis Ward and Nate Sage also stepped up, combining for 18 points. The Lakers are back in action tomorrow night, playing their third game in five nights, when they host the first-place Orangeville Northmen.
Goerdy Addison made 40 saves to backstop the Jr C Lakers to a 10–6 win over Whitby, locking up first place in the standings. Peterborough will close out the regular season Sunday afternoon at 4pm when they host Orangeville at the Healthy Planet Arena.
And after a rare Thursday night on the road last week, the Sr Lakers return to the Memorial Centre tonight for an 8pm matchup with the Brooklin Lacrosse Club. Brooklin enters the game on a three-game win streak and sits just two points behind Peterborough in the MSL standings.
