The City of Peterborough is inviting community members to take part in healing circles following vandalism at the Nogojiwanong Project panels in Millennium Park. The panels, which mark the 200th anniversary of Rice Lake Treaty No. 20, were defaced with graffiti discovered on June 3.
A virtual healing circle will be held from 10 am to noon on June 17. An in-person circle is set for the same day from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Nogojiwanong Project site in Millennium Park. Those attending in person are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. The gatherings aim to provide space for reflection, support, and sharing, particularly for Indigenous community members and allies.
Registration is required for the virtual session by noon on June 16 through the City’s website. Space is limited to ensure all voices are heard.
Support services are also available, including Talk 4 Healing (1-855-554-4325), Kids Help Phone (1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868), and the Hope for Wellness Help Line (1-855-242-3310).
