Peterborough downtown will come alive this summer with monthly sidewalk sales.
The Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA) is bringing back the Second Saturday Sidewalk Sales from June through September. On the second Saturday of each month, June 14, July 12, August 9, and September 13, George Street will close between Brock and Simcoe Streets to make way for a lively pedestrian marketplace.
Shoppers can expect special promotions, pop-up vendors, and community activities across the downtown core.
Nour Mazloum, executive director of the DBIA, said the events aim to boost foot traffic and support local businesses. “Each Second Saturday is an opportunity to drive real economic activity for our small businesses while offering locals and visitors a reason to explore the core,” Mazloum said.
Local businesses like Iceman Video Games are eager to participate. Store manager Holly Butler said, “These sidewalk sales are such a blast! The energy on George Street is amazing, and we always meet so many new people who are just discovering our shop.”
Businesses interested in joining the event can contact the DBIA to reserve a space. The sidewalk sales offer a chance to shop, dine, and enjoy everything downtown Peterborough has to offer this summer.
