The Ontario government is investing $20,000 through the 2025 Experience Ontario program to support the Kawartha Craft Beer Festival, taking place June 6–7 in downtown Peterborough.
The announcement is part of a nearly $20-million provincial commitment to festivals and events across Ontario, aimed at boosting tourism and local economies.
“Festivals and events showcase the best of Ontario,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “They help create local jobs, provide economic benefits and bring communities together.”
Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith called the funding “fantastic news,” noting the festival’s impact on small businesses and the regional economy.
Richard Wood, president of Bobcaygeon Brewing Company and co-founder of the festival, said the provincial support will help grow the event, attract visitors, and celebrate local craft in the city’s core.
The Kawartha Craft Beer Festival is expected to bring a surge in visitors, benefiting nearby hotels, restaurants and retailers. The Experience Ontario program aims to help communities extend visitor stays and support main street businesses across the province.
