Local businesses and community groups will again gift their time and talents for the annual Day of Caring initiative.
On June 20th, the annual United Way organized and supported event will see Peterborough non-profits benefit from volunteers doing tasks at their locations, those jobs ranging from gardening and painting to cleaning and minor repairs.
United Way community impact director Betsy MacDonald says the initiative is a great example of the power of community that results when people connect and make a difference.
MacDonald says the United Way has consistently heard good things back from both volunteers and the agencies that benefit.
MacDonald adds for agencies on the receiving end of volunteers’ kindness, Day of Caring can be “a big game changer.”
MacDonald notes any businesses that would like to cover the costs of supplies, such as paint, are encouraged to do so. To make arrangements, reach out to the United Way at 705- 742-8839, extension 25, or email dayofcaring@uwpeterborough.ca.
